What time should I be there?
Please arrive at least an hour before your scheduled start time in order to find parking and check in.
What should I bring?
Please make sure to have your ticket on your phone or printed out. As this event takes place on the deck of a ship, you will need to wear close-toed, close-heeled shoes. Pirate costumes are encouraged!
Where do I park?
There is no on-site parking at the festival. We recommend parking at the Dana Point Harbor Parking Structure and taking the trolley to Stop N7B: Baby Beach / Ocean Institute for quick and convenient festival access. Check out our Parking page for more information.
Where do I check in?
You will check-in at the main ticketing tent in Ocean Institute’s parking lot. You will receive a wristband labeled with the time of your event. You can then proceed to the tall ship Spirit of Dana Point where the event will be held.
What is included?
- Your ticket includes admission to School for Scallywags, as well as the Festival Adventure Pass.
- The pass gives access to Ocean Institute’s exhibits and tours of all the visiting ships, for both days of the festival! The Institute and ships will open at 9:00 am. Ship tours will end at 2:00 pm to start battle preparations, so make sure to see those first!
- Children cannot attend School for Scallywags by themselves; adults must also purchase tickets.
What age is this for?
School for Scallywags is recommended for young pirates ages 5 to 8 years old. Younger ones might find it a little tricky, and older kids might be ready for bigger adventures. You know your little scallywag best; if you think they will enjoy the experience, we are happy to welcome them to our crew!
